IMMORTALITY I

There's an old doctrine resurfacing again as nothing is new under the sun.

The doctrine of immortality. If I address this topic as it ought to be addressed, we will go through all kinds of theologically ins and outs with volumes written  so I decided to break it down into episodes.

I will drop biblically nuggets every other day for my readers to chew on and ponder. A wise man once said that if people can just spend time to think, we will come up with solution to a bulk of our problems.

Inside you is the answer and solution to everything and challenges you face if you can just THINK! More so for believers, that’s why God Himself lives inside you. Dig deep and mine the wealth of Resource in you, that is the Holy Spirit.

Just SELAH.

Just pause for a second and think, armed with your bible and the Holy Spirit. Don't arm yourself with a pastor's doctrine or teachings, or what you heard someone say who heard another say without going back to the scriptures FOR YOURSELF to verify.

I usually say something I want to remind you of again:

To rightly divide the word of truth, a holistic approach of the Word of God should be taken. Secondly, the knowledge of God’s nature, His character, His will and plan brings clarity and insight as well. Thirdly, you will never go wrong staying in the middle of the road there are ditches of destruction such as false doctrines, exaggerations, heresy etc at both ends of the road.

I love you and this is not an attempt to discredit or ridicule anyone but to rightly divide the Word of God

I think a good place to start is that God exists in three persons:

The Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit.

When you study and read after them, you will realise that the Father is the Spirit of the Trinity (John 4:24), The Holy Spirit is the Soul (Ephesians 4:30) and Jesus the Son is the Body (Colossians 2:9)

{Permit me not to delve deeper into this as I want to make each post as short as I can. Contact me privately if you need more proof, biblical of course but read these scriptures before you contact me I believe it will save us time - Leviticus 26:11, Jeremiah 32:41, Zachariah 11:8, Exodus 23:20-21, Isaiah 63:9-10, Ephesians 4:30, 1 Thessalonians 5:19, Hebrews 1:3}.

In the first council meeting of the Trinity recorded in the bible, there’s something we should not ignore and take note of:

Genesis 1:26 (NKJV)

Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our IMAGE, according to Our LIKENESS...

IMAGE

צֶלֶם ṣelem; a phantom, illusion, resemblance; hence, a representative

I believe if Moses were to write this today, he will use the word hologram to describe this.

So we can say the word image describes man’s spirit.

LIKENESS

דְּמוּת ḏemûṯ; resemblance; adverbially, like: — fashion, like manner, similitude.

I am sure someone must have observed you say something or do something and remarked that you just said that or did that like your Dad or Mum. Your character or behaviour is a product of your soul. That why God wants our soul renewed because it has mirrored your fallen human spirit all your life, now you are saved, the soul needs to mirror your recreated human spirit (Romans 12:2)

So likeness in this verse is speaking about the soul of man.

So we can surmise that in Genesis 1:27 God created the spirit of man (both male and female) accompanied by his soul. The fusion of the spirit of man and his soul is inseparable except by the word of God (Hebrews 4:12).

Man’s creation didn’t end there. In chapter 2:7 God moulded for man a body.

Genesis 2:7 (NKJV)

And the Lord God FORMED man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the BREATH of life; and man became a living being.

Note that the materials from which the body was made from were sourced from EARTH. This is very important as nothing from earth will go to heaven:

1 Corinthians 15:50 (NKJV)

Now this I say, brethren, that FLESH and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption.

The human body is corruption and will not inherit incorruption. In lay man’s terms: the human body is MORTAL and CAN and WILL NEVER BE IMMORTAL.

BREATH

נְשָׁמָה nešâmâ; a puff, i.e. wind, divine inspiration, intellect, inspiration, soul, spirit.

I believe I needn’t say much, the original Aramaic Hebrew says it all. God had formed or sculpted the body just like a sculptor and the spirit accompanied with his soul, like a gust, entered the statue and all of a sudden it came to life.

I say all of these just to make one point clear - as God is a Trinity, man is a trinity as well.

1 Thessalonians 5:23 (NKJV)

Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole SPIRIT, SOUL, and BODY be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

FINAL WORD

When the proponents of this doctrine speak, they need to scripturally identify which dimension of man is immortal.

Is it the spirit, soul or body?

A.

My submission is that every BODY IS MORTAL as it is sourced from earth because this scripture must be fulfilled:

Genesis 3:19 (NKJV)

In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread till you return to the ground,

For out of it you were taken; FOR DUST YOU ARE, AND TO DUST YOU SHALL RETURN.”

Secondly, no flesh will enter heaven:

1 Corinthians 15:50 (NKJV)

Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption.

The body will DIE and the spirit and soul will return to God for judgement. This is the first death. (I will talk more on these in subsequent episodes)

Hebrews 9:27 (NKJV)

And as it is appointed for MEN TO DIE ONCE, but after this the judgment.

B.

THE SPIRIT OF MAN is ETERNAL as it is sourced from God and will return back to God for judgement:

Ecclesiastes 12:7 (NKJV)

Then the DUST will RETURN to the EARTH as it was,

And the SPIRIT will RETURN to GOD who gave it.

I have many things to say but I don’t want to make this post longer than necessary.
